ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION
The Electrical Design Group's IT Conditions have been developed in order to
minimise the costs incurred by our clients, and to ensure free access to all
relevant information for all parties. To this end, EDG’s policy is to have
information provided on an ’as needed’ basis, rather than the more traditional
policy of provision to all parties ‘just in case’.
To achieve the ‘as needed’ goal, EDG freely distributes electronic copies of
relevant information to interested parties on the understanding the recipient
agrees with the conditions contained herein. The advantages of an ‘as needed’
approach to information issue, utilising the free electronic distribution of
relevant information, include:
The recipients and users are able to avoid processing and storing
information that would traditionally have to be issued multiple times by
EDG ‘just in case’.
Electronic information can be transmitted and
processed considerably more quickly than traditional hard copies of
information.
The cost of storing electronic information is considerably lower
than that of storing traditional hard copies.
Simple procedures can be implemented by recipients and users to more
accurately file and retrieve electronic information than traditional
hard copy information.
Electronic information is not damaged through use, does not fade and
is not subject to the ravages of time.
NATURE OF INFORMATION
In addition to being used as a source of information, data and documents made
available by EDG are commonly used in the preparation of further information, as
well as to be used in construction and installation. For electronic information
to be used in such a manner, it is normal practice for such information to be
modified by the user. As such modifications are outside the control of EDG, the
accuracy and integrity of electronic information outside of EDG’s control cannot
be established or guaranteed by EDG.
The issuing of electronic information allows third parties outside the control
of EDG to modify and issue further electronic and hard copies of information
that appear to have been issued directly by EDG. As such EDG can not establish
or guarantee the accuracy and integrity of electronic and hard copies of
information not issued directly by EDG.
EDG is able to confirm the accuracy and integrity of the electronic information
available on the EDG website www.edg.net.au.
Should the accuracy and integrity of any EDG information, electronic or hard
copy be critical, a copy must be obtained directly from EDG. Such copies can be
downloaded directly from the EDG website www.edg.net.au or obtained by
contacting EDG directly.
DAMAGE IN ANY FORM
Due to the nature and complexity of the electronic information issued by EDG it
is possible for it to cause problems with third party software and hardware. As
EDG have no control over third party software or hardware, EDG is unable to
accept any responsibility for any damage in any form to software or hardware
caused by the use of electronic information issued by EDG.
Any party intending to use electronic information made available by EDG must
accept responsibility for any damage in any form to software or hardware caused
by the use of such information.
While EDG makes all reasonable efforts to ensure the electronic information made
available by EDG is free from viruses, EDG is unable to guarantee that
electronic information made available by EDG is virus free.
Any party using electronic information made available by EDG must accept
responsibility for checking the electronic information does not contain viruses
and for any damage in any form caused by any virus contained in the electronic
information made available by EDG.
